My Haunted Childhood

"My name is Penny, as a teenager I lived with my dad and my sister in a small village in England. My ghostly experiences started as a small child the age of 4.

I was looking out of my bedroom window into our back garden, I was with my cousin. She asked me if I was ok because I looked really pale and scared, apparently I told her that I saw two children playing in the garden dressed in old fashioned clothing. I don't remember this but its true.

Through out my childhood I was fascinated with ghost stories and the super natural but it would really scare me allot. when I would use the toilet at night I would be so scared that I would just take a running leap into my bed and always smash my head on the wall!!

Then when I was about 6 my parents divorced which really wasn't that traumatic for my sister and I. We just knew that Mummy and Daddy were happier because they weren't arguing all the time.

After a year or two my Dad met a suitable wife and married her. All I could think about was extra presents at Birthdays and Christmas from my new family. She had a son and daughter that moved in with us, the house got extended to make extra room for our new family members.

When I reached my teens I got a little rebellious which made life tough at times.

Anyway, around the age of 14 I was writing a letter to my pen friend, I looked up into the mirror, my face turned white and I saw an old lady staring at me. Another time I had been reading about ghosts and I was up all night thinking about them when all of a sudden I smelt a foul smell I can describe it as a fishy burning smell.

One night I heard a pencil going along my radiator. Another time I'm in bed I hear a loud smash and the glass fell out of my picture frame and smashed onto the floor. On another occasion I came home from school and my mirror by the window had a big crack in it.

The last experience that has stayed with me was when my friend and I were talking about ghosts all the windows were shut and so was the door all of a sudden we see one of my draw knockers swinging by itself and only one! We screamed and ran away like 5 year olds!"

My Nonna

I am Teresa from Patchogue, Long Island.

My Nonna used to love watching wrestling. She would sit and watch and yell and curse at the Referee. "GOTFREED,(she would yell) GOTFREED, CHICATA, CHICATA, QUARDA CHE FAI. (referee, referee you are blind look at what he is doing)

About 20 years or so after she died. I found myself not being able to sleep. So I went into the den and sat next to a rocking chair and turned on the TV. Wrestling was on during the match the referee had his back to the wrestlers and next to me the rocking chair started to move. and I heard GOTFREED, GOTFREED GUARDA CHE FAI. I don't know if that cat got the chair going or if I was having a really good flashback. But I like to think that in that split second my Nonna came to visit me.
